As the dry ice market matures, people know more and more about dry ice, but there are many problems hidden behind dry ice blasting, such as the whereabouts of the removals after dry ice blasting, safety issues during dry ice blasting, and dry ice blasting. Whether it can cause depressions on the surface of the workpiece, etc., I will answer them one by one.
1. The whereabouts of the removal after dry ice blasting
The direction of the object to be removed by dry ice blasting causes the object to be cleaned to freeze rapidly, forming cracks. When the dry ice expands in the crack, the instant blast makes the object to be cleaned into particles, which are peeled off and adhered with the compressed air blown away. objects and diffuse in the air. Of course, after cleaning, if there are no other measures, these particles diffused in the air will settle on the cleaned site ground like dust, and the dust can be removed by vacuuming. Under certain conditions, some oil stains or water stains may be scattered on the site. This is due to the presence of some floating residual oil or residual water in the cleaned workpiece. These residual oil or residual water are not attached to the surface of the workpiece but is free. In actual operation, the residual oil in the workpiece should be sucked off with a cloth before cleaning the workpiece with dry ice.
2. Safety during dry ice blasting
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, non-toxic and non-flammable. Therefore, on the whole, it is a safe cleaning method, which is harmless to human body and workpiece. In a dry environment, the high-speed jet of airflow will also produce electrostatic effects. At present, Airui Dry ice cleaning machine is equipped with a protection device to avoid adverse reactions caused by static electricity.
It is worth noting that during the dry ice blasting process, a carbon dioxide atmosphere will be formed after the dry ice vaporizes. In ventilated conditions, the diffusion of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere will not create adverse conditions. However, in an unfavorable environment with poor ventilation conditions, carbon dioxide sinks will occur due to the lack of air circulation. In this environment, a person will feel uncomfortable due to the lack of oxygen, so it should be ensured that the air circulation does not allow carbon dioxide to accumulate.
3. Can dry ice cleaning cause depressions on the surface of the workpiece, etc.
Dry ice blasting is similar to the sandblasting process. Dry ice particles are sprayed onto the surface of the workpiece through compressed air, which will have a certain impact on the surface of the workpiece. However, the dry ice cleaning process does not rely on the abrasive action of dry ice particles and the surface of the workpiece to remove stains, but Quickly freeze the stains on the workpiece, the hardness of the dry ice particles is only 2MOHS, even if the dry ice particles directly hit the surface of the workpiece, they will be crushed immediately without damaging the surface of the workpiece. For workpieces with very low surface hardness, "snowflake dry ice" can be used as raw material to spray the surface of the workpiece. The main factor that damages the workpiece is the wind pressure, so for fragile parts, the sample test should be carried out first, and then cleaned after setting the appropriate wind pressure.
