dry ice blasting

Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide that sublimates easily. Widely used in stage, film and television, wedding, party and so on. Dry ice can also be used for cleaning.

Dry ice cleaning, also known as cold spraying, uses compressed air as the power and carrier, uses dry ice particles as accelerated particles, and sprays on the surface of the object to be cleaned through a special spray cleaner. The dry ice particles hit the surface, causing the dirt to freeze and embrittle, creating "cracks." At the same time, after drilling into the cracks in the dirt, the dry ice particles sublimate within a few thousandths of a second, and the volume expands instantly, peeling off the dirt from the surface of the object. Xiamen and Fengli dry ice cleaning avoids the corrosion and damage of the surface of the object by chemical cleaning, and improves the production efficiency. However, dry ice blasting is not suitable for a relatively closed environment, because the sublimated carbon dioxide will crowd out the oxygen, resulting in shortness of breath or even poor breathing.

(1) Dry ice can be used in stage, film and television, wedding, party, etc. The principle of creating the sea of clouds effect is that the dry ice sublimates and absorbs heat, causing the water vapor in the air to condense to form water mist.

(2) The microcosmic explanation for the instantaneous volume expansion during dry ice blasting is that the distance between molecules becomes larger.

(3) Compared with chemical cleaning, dry ice cleaning has the advantages of no corrosion, no damage to the surface of objects, and improved production efficiency.

(4) From the perspective of material properties, the reason why dry ice blasting is not suitable for relatively closed environments is that carbon dioxide cannot supply breathing.
